American dream, as Jones attests is an American ideology which “is not completely understood”. Since each one has his own interpretation, it is difficult to appreciate its achievement. Since in the mythical, religious and political definition of American dream, as Jones describes, we can find the importance of wellbeing, the materials things are not enough this dream. In Gran Torino film, Walt was rich but was not happy. Also in the first sequence of the film, his relationship with his neighbor was full of racial hatred.
