Golf was introduced by the Scottish in the early 1400s but was outlawed by the king, King James II, because it was a distraction to military training. Even in 1400s, golf was seen as a waste of time and was an escape from your responsibilities. After England took over Scotland, the Queen made it legal and was known to play it.
