God’s Sovereignty God allows mankind to make their own decisions in life, but they struggle to follow the designated path. With God’s sovereignty He can turn someone’s life around into something great for His purpose. In the Twelve Unlikely Heroes, God’s sovereignty can be seen in the lives of Enoch, Joseph, and Miriam. God’s hand was put to work in the life of Enoch because of his strong faith and loyalty to God. “Amazingly, he did so, not just for several decades, but for three hundred years” (3)! Enoch kept walking with God as he remained faithful for 365 years. Because “he pleased God,” he was taken away from this earthly world to heaven by God Himself (Hebrews 11:5). “Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him” (Genesis 5:24). She was a leading lady of the Exodus who showed a great role model for others to follow. Miriam was not perfect and because she felt jealous of Moses, she received leprosy and they all suffered “forty years of wandering in the wilderness ” (60). It was a wake up call from God that helped her realize that she was not suppose to be envious of Moses but be the woman who possessed the character trait of leadership. “First she was called a prophetess-one to whom God revealed messages for the people (cf. Numbers 12:2).” God had great trust for Miriam and because of that she was the first woman in the bible to be given that rare privilege. In the end, she praised God, “Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing. Miriam sang to them: Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted” (Exodus 15:20-21 NIV). It was God’s sovereignty that allowed Moses to be the only one to see the promise land before his
