Ever meet someone two faced or have drastic mood swings? In “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford falls off a boat and swims toward a island. He then meets General Zaroff. He is invited for dinner at the General’s home. General and him discuss about hunting, but then Zaroff tells him about his new hunting passion, hunting humans. The next day Zaroff hunts Rainsford and Rainsford is hunting him. In the story Zaroff’s character is oxymoronic because he is a domestic brute.
Zaroff’s character is an oxymoron because he is a sophisticated savage. He acts proper and sophisticated yet he will treat the weak as if they were nothing.“They were eating borsch, the rich, red soup with whipped cream so dear to Russian palates. Half apologetically General Zaroff said, ‘We do our best to preserve the amenities of civilization here. Please forgive any lapses. We are well off the beaten track, you know.
