My desire for studying General Adult Nursing began during my current career for Her Majesty’s Prison Service. For the past 7 years I have been working in the Security Intelligence Department at HMP Preston and as much as I love my current role I want to be able to help people and care for them when they are in need and be able to make a difference to people who need caring for and bringing back to full health. My original desire was to be a Prison Officer and to be able to help and care for prisoners but as soon as I started my banking role it was then I realised I want to be able to work further afield such as in a hospital aswell as a prison and be able to reach out to a wider volume of people and to gain new experiences in different background settings.…show more content…
It is here I have found an interest for a career I really want to achieve in. From an early age I have wanted to become a nurse and after leaving school I just wanted to get a job straight away and not further my education now almost 10 years down the line I wish I would have done it sooner and I could be in the career I want to be in today. I have almost completed my Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths at Preston College my exam is in February this year where I am expected to gain a Pass for this which should hopefully allow my entry on the General Adult Nursing course at UcLan. Also in my own time I have recently started an Open Access course in Access to HE Diploma (Allied Health Professions) which I am currently due to finish around May/June this year. During my time spent on Healthcare I have witnessed all the hard work and dedication that the nurses and doctors do on here and it is my greatest passion to be able to do all the duties and responsibilities that a nurse holds this is why I want the qualification so much because I know I can be a great, caring and dedicated
