The Gatorade ad form, from the 1980s, pictures basketball legend Michael Jordan doing a reverse slam-dunk during a slam-dunk contest. Jordan is seen doing this dunk in front of a large crowd. He also seems as thought this dunk is effortless and it is something he can do on the regular. Below Jordan we see a Gatorade sports drink that seems to serve as the tool that enables him to perform such fantastic move. Directly below that, the words, “ To Reverse Your Thirst Nothing Beats Gatorade”, are written in bold black letters to let us know that the only way to perform such task you have to drink Gatorade. The advertisement effectively uses ethos, logos, and pathos to convince the audience of young athletes that in order to be like Michael Jordan, you have to buy Gatorade.…show more content…
The ad was supported by using a very persuasive and empowering sports figure for the company, and in my view, Michael Jordan is a big influence to why the company of Gatorade is so successful. Gatorade is one, if not the most popular sports drink companies throughout the world. In my opinion by using Michael Jordan as the sports figure for their product, Gatorade grabbed the attention of the consumers by showing them that their favorite athlete uses their product and in seeing that, the consumer might believe in buying the product. The ad advertises by saying, “The Slam Dunk In Reverse”.
