In the story “Seventh Grade,” by Gary Soto, the main character, Victor, embarrasses himself while trying to impress a girl. He learns, however, that sometimes taking risks pays off. For an example, when he said hi to Teresa, the author states, “She smiled and said, “hi Victor.” He smiled back and said, “Yeah that’s me.” his brown face blushed.” This shows that he is embarrasses and knew he should have said something else. This is important because even though he got embarrassed he got to talk to Teresa. Additionally, Victor embarrassed himself when he tried to talk French to the teacher.
