Definition of fundamental attribution error in my own words Fundamental attribution error also known as correspondence bias can be described as the overestimation of internal explanation for the behavior of other; while failing to take into account the power of the situation. Example of Fundamental attribution A typical example would be a case where an individual hit a child and the guardian of the child assumed and concluded that it was intentionally done from a position of hate. Meanwhile, the child was standing in a dark area and was not visible to the individual but the child guardian thinks that the individual’s intentions are malicious whereby it’s just an accident. However, being under the influence of alcohol increases someone chances of making attribution error. According to studies, video games and violence in the media are linked to more aggressive behavior in teens. This is a concern because most of the popular video games contain violence. Obviously, Part of the increase in aggressive behavior is linked to the amount of time children devoted playing video games—and daily media used by children is increasing significantly.
