Compare and Contrast: F. Scott Fitzgerald and Jay Gatsby Throughout his life, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, and he often made his characters exhibit several similarities to himself. In his novel, The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby shows many parallels to Fitzgerald. Both Gatsby and Fitzgerald experienced humble beginnings, but became wealthy, earning them the woman that they wanted. Also, they were both in the military. One difference between them is that one’s dream came true and he got the girl, and the other was unable to accomplish this.
