A person who loses their spouse must deal with the emotional devastation of spending the rest of their life without their partner. Secondly they must accept new roles and learn the skills associated with them. Everyday stresses must now be manged alone without support. The surviving spouse may now face new responsibilities as a single parent while dealing with their overwhelming grief. Disposing of the deceased spouse's clothing and personal belongings is often a major challenge to the widow. Both men and women whose partner has died have a higher likelihood of physical health problems. A recent widow may find eating a challenge as it was formerly a shared experience. Both sexes experience extreme loneliness after the loss of their loved one.
