Executive Summary: The Xbox One

When customers are shopping for a new gaming console, they are generally looking for high-quality, innovative software, with a wide variety of games available for the lowest price possible. Microsoft aimed to satiate these consumer wants with the Xbox One. They offer a variety of new games to Xbox One users, the Kinect feature is included in the system, Xbox Live—allowing customers to game against each other online, and many other features. In comparison to its predecessor, the Xbox 360, the Xbox One is a higher-quality system. The Xbox One console is much larger than the Xbox 360 console, which attempts to give it more breathing room to not overheat—as the Xbox 360 tended to do. Also, the Xbox One has a larger processor, and therefore is a much more powerful console. Overall, even though there are products available to consumers that would meet their demands, as society grows and changes, they’re continuously looking for the next best product. Therefore, although there are older products available to consumers, new products like the Xbox One offer consumers features that are much more advanced.…show more content…
The Xbox One specifically target the “Dad gamer”. This demographic segment is willing to spend a large amount on discretionary goods. Due to the fact that this demographic segment is generally willing to spend large sums of money on their gaming devices, they are a profitable target segment for companies like Microsoft with regards to gaming consoles. As previously stated, Microsoft attempted to broaden their target market at the release of the Xbox One, by targeting families, instead of just the “Dad gamer”. As this did not bode well for their sales, Microsoft refocused their target on the hard-core gamers again after its disastrous
