Abraham Lincoln demonstrates Jesus’ generous attitude toward others through three main Beatitude in his life. The Beatitudes are any of the declarations of blessedness pronounced by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. The three that Abraham Lincoln portrays are, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God, blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy, and blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.”
The first Beatitude of the three Abraham Lincoln portrays is “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” This Beatitude means peacemakers not only live peaceful lives but also try to bring peace and friendship to others, and to preserve peace between God and man.
