Abraham Lincoln demonstrates Jesus’ generous attitude toward others through three main Beatitude in his life. The Beatitudes are any of the declarations of blessedness pronounced by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. The three that Abraham Lincoln portrays are, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God, blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy, and blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.” The first Beatitude of the three Abraham Lincoln portrays is “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” This Beatitude means peacemakers not only live peaceful lives but also try to bring peace and friendship to others, and to preserve peace between God and man. Abraham shows these through two ways, the first example is in the civil war, where the southern states and northern states were fighting and many innocent people were getting killed. Abraham Lincoln stepped up and help end the war and prevented many more lives from being killed. Most people in southern states were mad about it because they couldn’t take advantage of the black anymore. Abraham Lincoln did the right thing to give everyone the opportunity to be treated equally no matter you race. This meant people getting mad and killing him. The second example is he helped America get through the civil war and if he wasn’t there more damage would have happened if he hadn’t stopped it.
