Some non-scientific ways of the knowing the world could be through personal experiences. In my life I have met many people from different walks of life. Through conversation and getting to know the person you can learn a lot from them. People can open new ways of thinking. They can show you how to see the world through many different perspectives. They pass on knowledge from one person to the other. For example, Teachers teach us what is right and what is wrong,how things are done, and how to apply those methods to the real world. Especially growing up in Germantown, I was exposed to a lot of people who don’t look like me and who don’t even think like me. They taught me things I would have never thought of in my life. For example when I was in high school I didn’t really understand how complicated life could get until I graduated from school. I had to grow up quick within those 3 months before I started college. I had seen my friends and family go through the same thing, but I didn’t think the same thing would happen to me. But because of the advice they gave me I was able to navigate what I should do and how to solve the problems I was going through. When you think about it personal experience is like background knowledge. You may not know everything there is to know, but you know enough that if you were asked about it you could give a gist or an idea. When you meet a lot of people from different walks of life you get to learn about their customs, how things are done, why things are done that way and it opens your mind to more knowledge. It gives you that background info about their world. Personal experience shows people that even though we like to think that the world is one big happy place, in reality it is a lot more harsh. It gives you the perspective that not everyone is born with the same ideas as you and that not everyone has the same privilege that you are born with or even
