Global citizenship is an abstract concept but powerful concept that describes a way of thinking, action, and on addressing the socio-cultural elements. It is the concept based on "self" concept in relation to the 'other'. There is a lot of discussion and debate on this issue, as there is about the whole idea of globalization. A useful working definition, however, provided by Oxfam: A global citizen is someone who knows the wider world and has a sense of their own role as a world citizen, who respects and appreciates diversity and has an understanding of how the world works, who is outraged by social injustice and participate the community at various levels, from local to global level, who is willing to act to make the world a more equitable and sustainable place and take responsibility for their actions. A person you want to be an effective global citizen, then it must be flexible, creative and dynamic. People should be able to solve problems, make decisions, think critically, communicate ideas effectively and work well within teams and groups to effective global citizens.
