As I started reading the first couple pages of this book I was lost, I didn’t know much about the Jewish religion, Elie as young he is it is surprising that he is interested in religion. I learned that Kabbalah the ancient Jewish tradition of mystical interpretation of the Bible. Normally kids pray and go to church because they are forced to by their parents; he was different from the rest of the kids. He wanted a master to guide him in the studies in Kabbalah, but his father told him he was too young. But as the events in the story progresses, he slowly starts losing his faith. I guess it was normal to lose faith that god exist after what started happening in his life. The big idea of the first part is that step by step the life of the European Jews was stripped of their identities. There were certain restrictions just for the Jews and when the war started they had to wear the star of David do they could be easily targeted. Losing their all worldly possessions, then, their own homes and got relocated to the Ghettos. Then moved to the concentration camps where they even lost their name and were called by numbers; they lost literally everything.…show more content…
The topic of the Holocaust is familiar to me because I have read many holocaust books. The problem of racism/discrimination towards a race or sexuality still exists today. Like during the world war II, discrimination of race, gender identity and sexual orientation is still common today. People are accepting different kinds of people more
