In order for a parks and recreation department to be successful and make the population it serves is to have diversity. Diversity can come in many shapes and sizes such as, diversity by population with people of different race, ethnicity, and background. Also, diversity can be supported through the programs provided with having a plethora of programs and users to choose from. With the responsibility of having a diverse population and programs comes the duty of providing a fun, family safe environment with other programs throughout the sports that are offered. These sports that are offered include: adult soccer and hockey, youth football, indoor soccer, baseball, girls fast-pitch softball, swimming, and basketball. These programs are meant to appeal to all cultures and backgrounds. The city of El Paso is known for being one of the most ethnically diverse places in all of America. With diversity, comes the responsibility of having many programs to fit the needs and wants of the community. The city of El Paso is rich in Hispanic populous and culture, along with African American, and Caucasian. There are plenty of options of programs to appeal to all cultures at the parks and recreation department such as, boxing, after school programs, day care, pre-school, fitness rooms, and an open gym.…show more content… Since the majority of the population in El Paso is Hispanic there should be more programs and even events that would keep and even spark and interest in the community. I would like to implement three programs that would appeal to not only the majority of the community, but the vast majority of the surrounding areas. As Hispanics are forced to be more and more integrated into a growing American society, the programs and interests are constantly evolving also. These programs will hopefully, evolve with the ever-changing American/Hispanic
