The Einsatzgruppen
During the World War II many Jews where killed by Hitler and the Nazis. Within the Nazi army was a group called the Einsatzgruppen. The Einsatzgruppen was multiple groups of men that helped transport and kill Jews during the Holocaust. These men were ruthless and were close to Hitler in ranking. If these men lost the ability to kill they and the Jewish people they were to kill were sent to death camps. In group a there was 990 men. On the second group there were 665 soldiers. Within the third set there were 700 people. Last was group d which contained 600 militant soldiers (Heart)
The chiefs of the Einsatzgruppen had certain orders that they had to follow. The orders were given to them by Heydrich. His orders were for the chiefs to report the number of Jews in a territory. They had to…show more content… The groups made the Jews give up possession such as shoes, hair brushes and money. On September 19 1941 took control of Kiev. The Jews in Kiev were refugees. The Jewish refugees of Kiev were sent to Babi Yar, which is an anti tank ditch on the outskirts of Kiev, where hundreds of Jews were in the first moments of arriving. The main technique of execution was shooting the victim as they stood or kneeled in the ditch or the mass graves that they dug themselves. When they were killed in gas vans, the Jews were ordered to sit in the back of the van, the back end of the bus was filled with toxic gases that would kill them. The Jews that the Einsatzgruppen could not find had to meet at a certain place at a certain time or they would be hunted. When the area was filled the soldiers made the captive Jews dig their own graves. (Reitlinger). Each group had certain leaders. Group A was lead by double Ph.D. Dr. Franz Walter Stahlecker.
