Greedy, self-interested men would be interested in “Huswifery” by Edward Taylor, “Upon a Spider Catching a Fly” by Edward Taylor, and “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” by Johnathon Edwards. “Huswifery” would be appealing to greedy men, who think they are superior to those around them. In “Huswifery,” Edward Taylor writes “My words and actions, that their shine may fill, My ways with glory and Thee glorify” (15). Taylor is signifying that all should follow his ways and be like him; just as greedy, selfish men feel that they are better than others and all should follow their example. Selfish men believe that they should strive above everyone else and leave those behind: “Strive not above what strength hath got. Lest in the brawl. Thou fall”
