The title of the work I have decided upon is The Pink Dancers, Before the Ballet (Les danseuses roses, Avant le ballet) by Edgar Degas. It was created in 1884 . It is from the Impressionist period. The purpose of this artwork is to allow the viewer to sense the nervousness, being unsure, and excitement before they preform. Movement is apparent in the 3 girls in pink behind the 2 unsure girls. Behind the 2 unsure girls in pink is a women in white who looks to be helping another dancer or is preparing for the ballet. the purpose of the work is to illustrate the nervousness, being unsure, and excitement isn't just during or after but is before to. Also the ballerinas are creating their own show of preparation. I love watching people dance, I also have been in plays and can relate to the artwork. Im fascinated how edgar degas captured the sense of movement and the emotions in this painting.…show more content…
this artwork shows that one of the girls in pink is nervous because she has her head down like she is looking down and is looking at the rose in her hands. The girl behind her looks like she is unsure as well because she has her head downcast as well. Also I think that maybe the girl behind her might be practicing a dance. The ballerinas next to the other ballerinas I just talked about, look excited because they look like they are talking. One of the girls in this group looks like she is practicing a move. What I just said supports my thesis by illustrating that the girls are nervous as well as
