Frito-Lays, the company that currently owns Doritos opened a Mexican restaurant in 1955 called Casa de Fritos in Disneyland. They purchased an excess amount of tortilla chips and throwing the surplus tortilla out. A Salesman was delivering more ingredients and suggested that instead of wasting the stale tortilla to fry and season them and make chips. This chip became extremely popular, really fast. The young boy is on the swing set is teasing the other two repetitively saying that they want the Doritos but can’t get them. The grandmother and the baby look at each other. Suddenly she is pulling back as far as she can and launches the baby in the air to get those Doritos and is successful. In this commercial there is imagery presented by the use of the sunny outside and the use of classical background music. These two things use two of a person’ssenses which catch their eyes. Also when the grandmother launches the baby like a sling shot it shows the great levels the people would go to just to get a bag of Doritos. In another commercial as soon as it begins fairytale music starts playing and a young girl dressed in a princess costume appears. Suddenly the audience is already taken in because of pathos. This is a childhood memory for most and reminds them of other childhood memories that just start flow through their minds. Then a middle aged dad passes holding a football and the little girl calls him asking to play dress up with her. At first he hesitates but his daughter is able to persuade him with a bag of Doritos. This is where the music changes to a more upbeat song appealing to the teenagers watching. The commercial proceeds to go on where the man is wearing a dress and exaggerated amount of make up while eating doritos. Then his friends walk in to see this mess and just stand in the door way with nothing to say because this sight isn’t something you see every day. Then all the other men come and join in dresses to they too can get Doritos. The commercial then ends with his wife passing by and asking one of his friends if he is wearing her wedding dress, which he is. This commercial among all other Doritos commercial is presented to a wide range of people to show that all can enjoy a delicious snack like
