In the experiment, the primary substance used for recrystallization was an acetanilide compound. The physical properties of the compound was changed through every stage of the recrystallization process. Initially, the acetanilide compound can be described as a tan-colored salt. But then the 1.496g compound was put into a flask with water at room temperature, in which resulted with the compound not dissolved. Afterwards, small portions of hot water were added to the flask to completely dissolve the compound.
