This book contains important teachings such as the Four Noble Truths, the Middle Path, and the Noble Eightfold Path. Buddhists believe that through these teachings that they can obtain Nirvana, which represents the final goal of Buddhism. I would assume they like to maintain a balance with everything in their life, a good example would be the Middle Path. Buddha said that there are two extremes to stay away from the indulgence of sense-pleasures and self-mortification. He said that over indulgence “is the way of ordinary people, unworthy, and unprofitable.” While on the other hand he said that self-mortification “is painful, unworthy, and unprofitable.” Using moderation and balance between the two are acceptable.
