The painting ‘Departure for the hunt in the Pontine Marshes’ by Horace Vernet depicts several men going into the Pontine Marsh (located in Italy) with their dogs, horses and guns to hunt. Even with visible brush strokes on the painting with a quick glance one can somewhat mistake it for a photograph due to its naturalistic look. The large painting consists of mostly natural things such as bushes and large trees with vines wrapped around the stems and the branches. In the center of the painting, there is a broken/fallen tree that creates some form of bridge from both sides on the stream that is also placed at the foreground.
