I may be reading to much into the story, however, I I think the author was trying to use metaphors that meant something to everybody. Like the metaphor of the transformation into a bug reminds me of critically ill people. I think the alienated from my parents, tell how it felt hating people he used to love. Although the particulars of this story are unique, you can extract much that will be applicable to any situation. When I was in hight my english teacher said
