Samuel Adams was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 27, 1722 and died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 2, 1803. Adams was born as the son of a Bostonian merchant and maltster. By 1740 he had become a Harvard graduate but ended up a failed brewer and newspaper publisher. After the Revolutionary War, Adams would serve in the Continental Congress as a delegate of Massachusetts from 1774 to 1781, take position of Lieutenant governor to John Hancock in Massachusetts from 1789 to 1793, and become the 4th Governor of Massachusetts before retiring in 1797. Sam Adams is most prominently remembered as one of the Founding Fathers, a Massachusetts statesman, and a leading figure of the American Revolution who was notorious for the turmoil
