I saw the show at Union Catholic Regional High School Auditorium. I saw the show today, October 25, 2015 at 3 o’clock. The title of the show is The Cripple of Inishmaan and it was written by Marcin McDonagh. The theme of the show is love. Billy lost his parents over love, because they wanted him to live as a baby. Billy was loved by two older women (Aunt Kate and Eileen) because his family died. At the end, love was being shown by Helen to Billy because she agreed to going on a walk with him. On the island of Inishmaan, off the coast of Ireland, there isn’t a lot of action. A young man named Billy Claven (Cripple Billy played by Neill Lynskey), who is physically handicapped is watched by his guardians Aunt Eileen Osbourne (played by Kimmy Paltz) and Kate Osbourne (played by Deirdre Pepe). I believe their relationships with other characters seemed natural and appropriate. All characters stayed in their role throughout the whole play. Billy and Helen’s vocal quality was amazing. They were able to portray the voice of their character’s attitude and appearance. Neill was able to act just like Billy through his loud endless coughs to his sickly voice. Lexi kept a mean tone throughout the play which is just as I imagined Helen would sound like. The actors’ gestures and body movement were perfect for each of their characters. For example, Neill limped and walked slow throughout the play to portray Billy as a cripple and sick man. The actors were engaging and interesting to watch. I enjoyed their actions of each character (Billy coughing loud, Helen being mean to everyone, the aunts showing love and hate towards Billy and etc.). The blocking made sense in the play. I knew that the next scene is coming and that the actors were transitioning. The movement choices were natural and appropriate to the characters. Billy limping showed he was cripple which was a great way to portray his
