Sarah took a position as a 2nd-grade long-term sub during our Leavenworth year. She enjoyed the job and her principal and peers respected her teaching style. The District Superintendent and staff observed her one day and in a meeting afterward her principal remarked how impressed they were and couldn’t believe she was a long-term substitute. If I separated from the Army there, I’m confident she would have easily been offered employment.
I believe she was even more devastated than I was over the pass-over. She had always been supportive of everything I had done in the Army, including going to the wives clubs coffees. After the non-selection, she was not interested in wives club or other social activities.
