I do not feel that concurrent therapy is an acceptable and responsible practice in today’s health environment and economy. A main goal of this therapy technique is to minimize the number of staff needed, because they can save money. Concurrent Therapy is also said to save the therapist time during their day giving treatments. While they may be reducing the number of staff they have to pay they are putting the patient’s safety at risk. As a respiratory therapist your job is to provide quality and safe care in the best interest of the patient. Anytime you give a medication to a patient there is a risk for an adverse reaction to it.
