I chose to read and write about Psalms 89, God’s Covenant with David. The story begins Psalm 89:1-4. This is a maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I believe that these four verses mean that Yahweh or LORD will always love us, his children, no matter what we do. Ethan says that he believes that God will do what he has promised. In verse 5 it says that in heaven, they will praise the wonderful things that you have done LORD. I believe here he is talking about the angels that meet in heaven. He asks about in verse 6 about the sons of God. I’m not too sure who the sons of God are, but if I have to guess I would say they are the angels, God’s servants in heaven. If I had to answer the questions, I would say that nobody is like the LORD. In verse 8, he…show more content…
I believe these people are the people who go around and praise God. An example I can think of this is people now a days going door to door spreading the word of God. Verse 15, “The people are very happy when they know how to praise you. LORD, they will walk in the light from your face.” This is a bit confusing to me at first glance. I’m still not quite sure what exactly it means, but I would like to say it is the people that praise God will live in the light of God, or the right or good way of God. In Verse 17, he says “Your glory will make them strong and by your grace you will lift our horn.” I would like to think I know what “lift up or horn” means, but I’m not too sure. I believe it to be the more of symbol for strength. I think it is Gods way of giving people the strength to do…show more content…
The promise was that all of God’s people could see in Him, God, in a vision. I believe the vision would be a dream that all of the people will have. In these dreams, the people would be able to hear God telling them that David was to be their new king. I believe this because in verse 20, it says, “I have found my servant David; with my holy oil I have anointed him;” I know that in these days, a person was made king by anointing them. This was by pouring oil over the person. In verse 21 he states, “My hand will make him strong and, Yes! My arm will make him powerful.” What does he make strong and powerful? I am not sure what God is going to make stronger. Could he be talking about making the Earth more strong and powerful? In verse 24 a horn is brought up again. He says “And by my name I will raise his horn.” We know from the study bible that the horn is a symbol of strength. But whose horn is he talking about? Is it an animal’s horn or a person that he is speaking of? I would have to guess it is David getting the strength from God. I believe this because in verse 25 he says, “I will set his hand on the seas and his right hand on the rivers.” I believe this to mean that David is strong in these places. Verse 26 is a bit different in the New Testament to the Old Testament. In this verse we know David calls God “My Father”. In the New Testament, Christians think of God as their father, while in the Old
