In American politics you are either a Republican or Democrat. You are either one or the other, on this side or that side, a liberal or a conservative, a donkey or an elephant. The ones on the Republican side are the more conservative, follow the constitution word for word, type of people. The Democrats on the other hand are the liberal, free spirited, equal rights group. While both differences between the two are very vast, they each have their specific views and qualities that make them unique and alike in certain ways. The Republican and Democratic parties have different approaches to different issues that concern America today. The issue of health care is a major one for both parties. The Republicans were very against it and felt that it was unconstitutional of our government, “We oppose government-run health care and seek to protect the liberty of American patients” (gop.com). While on other issues such as energy independence both parties seem to have similar views. Republicans say “We support domestic energy production of clean coal and hydropower, as well as solar, wind, geothermal and nuclear power” (gop.com). Democrats say a similar view: “That’s why he and Democrats are focused on developing all of America’s natural resources—domestic oil, gas, wind, solar and biofuels—and encouraging fuel efficiency so that we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil over time” (democrats.org). Both view that the economy is in horrible shape and that America needs to create jobs.
