When Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples she erroneously injected a personal opinion into a government job. Her refusal to issue marriage licenses defied the Supreme Court ruling and thus broke the law. As a government worker you cannot use your personal opinion as the "law". Religious freedom gives her the right to practice her religion but that doesn't mean she can use that freedom to override a Supreme Court ruling. While I disagree with her refusal to issue the licenses, the way the public reacted and her punishment were a bit harsh. She should not have gone to jail over the issue nor should have people been sending her death threats. Her punishment should have been dealt with on an internal level with a suspension
