In “when cultures collide” by Comas Nwokeafor the author discusses how culture diversity makes it hard to raise children in foreign world like the United States. Especially, when growing up with different values, morals, and religious belief in a country like America where society is made up of different cultural backgrounds. Cultural diversity is described as, the existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within the society ("Culture." Merriam-Webster. Merriam-Webster. Web. 11 Dec. 2014.). Cultural diversity is more than a reality in this day in age; cultural diversity is life, and we should accept it and embrace our heritage. We live in a society that is made up of different ethnic backgrounds. For example, when I moved out of my parents’ house to live with my boyfriend, my mom was upset because in her culture you must get married first before you can live with a man. At times my mother even struggled with teaching household chores because my American friends would spilt up all the household duties vs mom who was taught that a woman should do all the domestic duties like cooking, cleaning, and caring for family.
