Coco Chanel is recognized and honored globally due to her contributions to the current position of woman in the modern society. She created the woman’s beauty through her fashion works that include costume jewelry, suits, designer perfumes, jersey, suntan, and black dress and women trousers. Through the new fashion, she was able to model the modern woman that is beautiful and sexy. She also led other women into the corporate world. The objective of this paper is to explore on how Coco Channel transformed the woman in the modern world. Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, famously known as Coco Chanel, was born in a family of six with three brothers and two sisters. One of her brothers died at birth. She was born on August 19th, 1883 in Saumur, a local city in France. Coco Chanel was second born to an unmarried mother, Jeanne Devolle, who was a laundry woman in the hospital. Later she married Albert Chanel, a nomadic street vendor who peddled undergarments and work clothes (Nagasawa 36). When Coco was twelve, her mother died from bronchitis and Albert left the family. After that Gabrielle went to the covenant of Aubazine, an orphanage that cared for the poor and abandoned people. In the orphanage Coco was taught the art of seamstress.…show more content…
