Cicero's 'De Oratore'

In “De Oratore”, Cicero says the speaker must have emotion in order to excite and engage with the audience. I believe this to be a true statement. Without the speaker putting any emotion into their statements, then they will begin to lose the audience’s attention. If the audience is not focused on the speaker then they cannot connect with the speaker. If this happens then how will the speaker be able to persuade the audience at all? This can relate to a topic we discussed a few weeks ago in class about teachers who actually engage with their students and teachers who only spit out facts.
