Introduction to the issue: Environmental migration is not a new phenomenon. Disasters have displaced people in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Climate change will significantly increase the frequency of these events, as well as their resulting in increased migration or human movement within nations as well as across international borders. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC) has predicted an increase in frequency and severity of climate related events such as storms, hurricanes, floodsc, landslides and cyclones as well as longer-term (slow onset) sea level rise, desertification, soil degradation as well as droughts and deficiencies of clean water.(Stojanov, 3) In turn this will result in people not being able to live and make a livelihood in certain parts of the world, forcing them to move elsewhere.…show more content…
