Caregroup was created when several big hospitals and their branches merged together. The goal of that merger was to unify and get bigger in an evolutive healthcare marketplace. Caregroup is using shared resources to run all the different hospitals, including the IT system. Currently as of 2015 Caregroup is identified as a non-profit corporation where “affiliates jointly borrow and purchase common services such as information technology support, but otherwise operate on a largely decentralized basis while still sharing a commitment to quality and patient safety”. This alternative, compared to the first, would have a drastically different cost. In fact, the outsourcing could become a point of cost savings, if conducted properly. The company has already had to call in Cisco to solve their past problem and even then it took them two days to do so. So why not outsource a large portion of their IT and allow for an external company to be able to help control and regulate the company's current IT infrastructure and processes. By outsourcing, Caregroup would also now have more than one IT employee or group to help oversee projects and implementations. This area is where Caregroup failed at before because at one point they only had one employee maintaining the network and this essentially led to the collapse. Also, the outsourcing alliance would allow for Caregroup to always have actual experts available for questions or help with any projects or
