Calling Home Reflection The first time I looked at the piece of writing I knew it was going to be dreadful because it's two full pages, and small font. When I read the story, first off it didn't take me that long, and I kind of liked it. While reading, I could picture every detail, every sentence in my head, as if I was watch an HD movie. The author, Jean Brandt wrote about an experience when she was thirteen in which she describes as embarrassing and frightening, which is also the mood of the story. At first, she was excited and happy because it was Christmas and her grandmother visited for the first time. As the story progresses, she talks about how it wasn’t worth waiting in line to buy a 75 cent button, so she slipped it in her pocket.
