In the story, “By Any Other Name” written by Santha Rama Rau, it is about the difference between the British and the Indian culture. In the story, there are many pieces of evidence that the British culture is dominant over the Indian culture in many ways. The British creates problems for the Indians in this story by not trying to become accustomed to their religion and trying to shape the Indians to become more like the British. There is variety of ways that the British Invaded the Indians culture
without your culture? Can you identify other people’s culture? If so you probably can only name some things that make their culture up but probably not everything. Some people's culture affects them more than others. For me, for example, culture is everything, without it I wouldn’t be the person I am today. A person's culture impacts how they view the world
different background than the western kids, “The students in the class laughed at him causing further embarrassment” (Lake 77). Lake’s son was trying to explain to his son’s teacher that Wind Wolf isn’t proud of his culture because of the laughing and the other students making fun of him because he has an Indian background. Being raised, “He is probably what you would call a typical Indian kid” (Lake 75), as a an Indian, Wind Wolf had a different way of learning how to count and how to tell the different

Culture can greatly influence the way a person views the world because their culture is the backdrop of that person and what makes them unique, culture can make people view things differently from the world. The first reason on why I find culture a great influence is because in the letter “An Indian Father’s Plea” By Robert Lake, there was one part where Medicine Grizzlybear said, “He is not culturally ‘disadvantaged’, but he is culturally ‘different’.” (77). This explains how Wind-Wolf’s culture

that Mira’s view of things will not change but will be maintained even if she’s in America. Her Indian culture will stay in her and that will reflect how she will view the world. In the story “By Any Other Name” by Santha Rama Rau, she states “We had our test today and she made me and the other Indians sit at the back of the room” (39). She also states “She said because Indians cheat” (39). This proves that a culture does influence how you view the world because the teacher viewed them as cheaters
