“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are a leader” (Adams). Leading by example is a trait that not all people attain. It takes courage, optimism, and leadership to take initiative to do what is right no matter what the circumstances are. A prime example of a person that is always optimistic and leads by example is Brenda Yost. Even though she has faced tough obstacles in her life, she continues to be a leader every day and show everyone that they can do anything they set their mind to. Like most people, Yost has faced many unfortunate events in her lifetime. The difference between her and the average person is that she faces the obstacle head on and is confident that the outcome will be positive. Never has there been a person who is as optimistic as she is during a hard time. Important lessons can be learned from people like this, as being optimistic is a meaningful quality to have. Also, when she is optimistic, she sets a good example and her cheerfulness rubs off on everyone else. Leading by example is not an attribute that a person acquires easily, yet Yost continues to spread her optimism and show that leading by example is something everyone can learn. Trying to lead by example in a negative way can set bad examples for the people around someone. Sometimes it is hard to look at the bright side of everything, but Yost makes it clear that leading by example is a reality that everyone can accomplish with hard work and dedication. She strives to lead the way in the right direction whenever she gets the chance. It doesn’t matter if she is going through a hard time, Yost is always cheery and bright. She continues to look at the bright side of things and see the glass half full instead of the glass half empty. No matter what is going on, she is always hopeful that there will be a positive outcome of the sitiuation she is
