The paper is based on ethical framework used in counselling for the purpose of which BACP ethical framework is used. This ethical frame is then compared with another framework that is UK probation service. Moreover, possible ethical issues in counselling are highlighted along with potential consequences and possible solutions.
Needs for an Ethical Framework in Counselling
The most commonly used ethical framework in counselling is British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which illustrates ethical code for trainers, counsellors, and supervisors, working in the field of counselling. It provides guidance regarding the exercise of counselling and psychotherapy by the members of BACP. The ethical framework in counselling that is BACP is important to be used because it highlights particular strategies on the facets of good practice, professional conduct, respect for the rights of clients, moral issues, and procedures of complains which play significant role in the counselling of a patient.
