Living in a private community and having certain rules and regulations can always lead to different controversial issues. Avalon Shores is a private community, located in Shady Side, Maryland, and this small 600 resident community is located on the West River. The neighborhood has a community ball field and playground area, a gated boat ramp and pier, a fishing pier, a community beach with a swimming platform, picnic tables, and a playground that are all accessible to Avalon Shores residents. However, Aspen Street is poorly maintained, it is mostly dirt, rocks, and potholes, which create numerous problems for residents. This street can cause many issues to a resident’s health, car issues and emergency issues. By contrast, fixing and maintaining the road with help from the county or community funds could be a widely accepted decision. To begin with having an unpaved smooth road is a risk to the resident’s health. Numerous children mine included must walk on this road in order to get to their bus stop each morning and afternoon. During the dark early morning hours, children are unable to see the potholes on the road. Stepping, tripping or falling into a pothole can injure anyone who is walking, by these accident ready to happen holes. All of the issues listed can become a very costly expense if they were to repeat themselves. Such as the numerous number of flat tires residents on this road have had, particularly the four flats I have personally had since I started driving.
