“Rose-Colored Dance”- a graphic piece by Tadanori Yokoo, incorporates typography, contrasting hues and the collage medium to illustrate content. By doing so, viewers are able to identify the controversial subjects the artist wanted to display.
Most spectators would distinguish various forms throughout the canvas; primarily ovals, rectangles, and a multitude of lines directed in a linear perspective. The most evident feature would be the symmetrical flower, centered at the intersection of the lines and placed at the foreground. Running downward the stem are black & white photographs, where similar portraits are also used to substitute the 3 heads on the surrounding birds. At both sides of the focal point, there are two rectangles, mirrored proportionally in the background.…show more content… These two elements also have a visual relationship, where the figure on the left is performing a provoking action to the outline on the right and the latter has her hand plunged in a can of salmon paste. Aside from those qualities, the underpart also depicts mirrored birds, waves, clouds and the rising sun. Above the epicenter is a diagonal banner stretching from the mid-left to top-right corner of the frame, and within it is a phrase written in classic Serif font. The top right of “Rose-Colored Dance” illustrates a dissimilarity by breaching the consistent, symmetrical placement and positioning minimalistic illustrations in its place.
