The article “Case for Contamination” in the New York Times, written by the author Kwame Anthony Appiah, points out the positive aspects on how the globalization has transformed the civilization around the globe, while some people in the society consider the globalization harmful. Appiah claims that globalization is a favorable evolution because it brings modern and brand-new services and goods to people from various cultures, and exposes them to a more sophisticated way of life.
In every domain, like education, hospitals, infrastructure is an improvement that we could not have achieved without the globalization. Also many times I had cases where people were laughing because I did not speak exactly like them, or because my accent was different then theirs. Another point is the argument that Appiah makes by saying that “ globalization symbolizes a huge challenge for the diversity in the cultures of underdeveloped and wealthy countries.” But Appiah does not comply with this and gives the example that poor countries would not have drinking water and education without globalization. I believe it is crucial that a person stays authentic and conserves its traditions. For example, today I can certify that the place where I grew up with in the background all those traditions and cultures made me the person I am today. It guided me to build the perspectives and character, in order to make me progress in my life. In my opinion, Appiah does not perceive enough that the diversity of cultural expression is threatened to disappear if the society does not protect them from the globalization. For example, I noticed that the western and more in particularly the American culture has a tendency always to want to establish its culture everywhere and does not make the opposite way around. I know that globalization has improved a lot in very different filed and improved the life of billions of people around the world in the 21st century, but it is not a reason to just pass over all those cultures to settle down this global financial
