In AO1 I will identify the different types of communications used in care settings and the purpose of each. There are many different ways in which people communicate with each other. Working with people involves interaction and that can be done in many ways which can include: oral communication, non-verbal communication, written communication, computerised communication and special methods. Good communication is important as it helps to encourage a trusting relationship between service providers and service users.

To have a good conversation with someone an individual requires good social skills and co-ordination, this means that a person has to show interest, has to be interesting as well as be able to start and end a conversation.
