Many people here in Canada were in favour for prohibition for various reasons. Prohibition was the ban on the import and export (transportation) and production of alcohol across the country. It was also known as the “Age of Prohibition”. The Prohibition Law was passed in 1918 for Canada and 1919 for the United States. Prohibition was introduced to the people because of history, women & their newfound authority, the temperance movement, morals, farmers, and employers. Prohibition was introduced by the government of Canada passing the Prohibition Law which banned the production, import, and export of alcohol.

They thought that people are in their normal human self when they are sober. Morals were another reason of Prohibition. Morals had an influence on Prohibition because many Canadians thought that drinking was a bad behaviour and they wanted it to be stopped. Farmers were also in favour of Prohibition because they did not want “evils” of the city coming into the country. Farmers thought that with prohibition. It would keep away the “evils” of the city from coming to their area. Finally, employers voted for Prohibition because they wanted to get work done efficiently, and with drunken people on the job, this wouldn’t happen.
