Riley Hand period 5: Paul Rand Paul Rand has made many logos over his career. His most famous would be IBM ABC and UPS. He also made one for Steve Job’s NeXT computers. Though he did have his failures like the FORD logo he tried in 1966. His first logo for a major and recognizable company was for UPS. This was in 1961. UPS standing for United Parcel Service is really quite easy to tell from the famous shield like shape with the letters “u” “p” “s” in it. But incase you didn’t know what it was Paul had a little design that looks like a package on top. His Second logo is for the ever popular channel on TV ABC. This logo though very simple relates to his previous logo for UPS. The three letters in a single shape is one of his first designs. This…show more content…
Again you see his three letter style. This logo made for the International Business Machines. This logo started out solid. Later as time went by it got cut into third-teen pieces. Finally the logo we know was born in the year 1972. This new improved logo has only 8 pieces as apposed to third-teen that made it look too choppy. This logo might not be too recognizable. But it was for the Yale University Press. This like the ABC logo is the lettering in a circle but this has all of Yale in it. Because why would the make it YUP though catchy would not be very original at this point. This logo from 1952 was something I put in for fun. Because it has no connections to any other logo I have put on here. But this logo is not a logo that would last long because it looks to silly. Plus you might not remember it as time goes by without seeing the company name. This logo made for the owner of a big company called Apple. Steve Jobs had this logo made for his line of NeXT computers. Though not a brand I recognize this was for a major company so still a big brand at the time it was made in 1986. Also it catches the eye with its color and style of text. This was a logo Paul made for Ford Motor Company. The design is slightly like there logo today but this was not used for their company at all. This style of text kind of looks like the logo for
