In the narrative “Inside the World of Boys,” the author William Pollack explains how “The Boy Code” (pg.62) can be very detrimental to the emotional and psychological state of a young adolescent male. In the narrative the author portrays a bright student having trouble at his new school. “Adams mother tried to talk to him, hoping to find out what was troubling him and causing him to do so poorly in school. ‘But the more I questioned him about what was going on, the more he continued to deny any problems.’ She said.” (pg.63) This is the prime example of Adam sticking to “The Boy Code” (pg.62) where boys are usually taught to deal with the problem without showing weakness.
