When in history has freedom ever just been handed down on a silver platter? For centuries people have fought for the rights and the will to choose how to live their lives. In “I have a Dream” by Martin Luther King Jr, “Cairo: My City, Our Revolution” by Ahdaf Soueif, “ Lotia in Terhran” by Azar Nafisi, People demanded freedom. They all had to demand for freedom before it was given to them. In I have a dream the speech by the infamous Martin Luther King Jr, he demanded to civil rights and eventually it was given to him and the whole African American community. One thing that happened that day that shows people were demanding was the march. The March represents how desperate people wherever their rights to be heard. Protest in itself is a demand. Another is the part where he discusses how he wants the children to live in harmony with white people. This shows that he demands a better future for the children of the African American community. Another thing he talks about is a check that needs to be checked out which is a demand that they get what they deserve. As said here on page 48, “We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.…show more content… As seen in the riots that were happening in the city. The people were demanding by breaking things and destroying things. On page 76 Adhalf says, “From time to time a great cry would go up and we would surge forward; our friends had won us another couple of meters we followed them and held our ground.”This is showing that the people won't give up and they are giving everything to demand what they want. Another example of the people demanding what they want Is when they start singing the national anthem,( Someone tried singing it and the government arrested that person) They were showing the government that they won't follow those rules anymore and that they demand to have
