Firstly, collaborative process blends different points of view. That means when persons from miscellaneous professional and technical backdrop come together to work on a project, the result is that all corners are considered. This is a minutely attractive outcome, especially in conditions where the project is expected to command a huge budget, because it eliminates the possibility of mistakes arising out failures and considers the effect of contributing elements. By that I mean that workplace collaboration can root out the occurrence of biased or partisan decisions because each stakeholder has a presence around the table. The influence of several different interested members that may include the overall team helps to ensure that the decisions made are ones that consider the effect of all the interested parties. Moreover collaboration may improve delivery times. If the stakeholders are able to recognize their synergies and leverage the experience of all the parties represented, a project that is a collaborative effort has the potential to be completed on or even before schedule. When a group work together as one and share thoughts it is much more efficient and their project can be finished faster that the expectation date. While bringing different shareholders together for the common good can introduce various new perspectives to the dynamic of the discussion, there is also the looming threat of group think. When a stronger personality is so forceful that he or she manage to take over the discussion and supplant their ideas as the outcome for the group. This as you can imagine is not collaborative and the stronger personality can be more competitive and he or she stay in the opinion he or she said and if the group decide something else she or she may get mad with them. Moreover, if the responsibilities of the different members are not clearly defined their contribution may fall into ambiguity and the result can only be pandemonium. In collaborative groups that are quite large ambiguity is common. When a group has too many members the benefit of having several different perspectives starts to decline. It is more difficult to share the work and the ideas. The optimal number of members is 3 or 4 base to researches. In addition huge disadvantage is the cost of collaboration. Although advancements in technology make it possible for collaborative efforts to cross international barriers and even time zones, the cost of doing this must be factored into the equation.
