These shoes are worn all around the world. Keds is an American brand of canvas shoe with rubber soles. Keds were introduced in 1916 by U.S. Rubber. The shoe brand was later acquired by Stride Rite Corporation, and is currently owned by Wolverine World Wide. Keds produced the very first sneakers ever made. In fact, the history of the sneaker, quite literally, begins with Keds. When choosing a name, the initial choice was Peds, from the Latin meaning foot, but that name was already a trademark. Seeing how the small paragraph of text connects with the reader on a personal level, it connects with their emotions. When it says, “Mess up. Apologize. Mess up again. Hug people. Take chances. Trust yourself.”, it makes the reader think back at a time where they might have took a chance and messed up. It really makes them think about past decisions they have made and how it has affected them as a person. Another thing that ties in because Swift, is the need for achievement. If someone was younger and saw their favorite artist wearing a certain brand of shoes, they are going to want to be just like them and wear those shoes. Swift shows that if you wear these shoes, you will be confident in them and you will be just as successful as she is. In this ad, all of the females are wearing Keds. In the picture on the left is a group of 5 girls, all wearing the shoes, and in the middle of the group is Swift. Using a celebrity in your ad to raise the sales is the main strategy of this ad. Having a celebrity such as Swift is really smart to use in your ad. She has such a large amount of fans that are young females and if they see her wearing this brand of shoe, they will go out and buy the same shoe brand. This shows the need for guidance.
